How to Play Bible Riddles
Each riddle starts with a broad clue and gets more specific. In a group, read one clue, pause for guesses, then read the next. Give more points for a correct guess after the first clue than after the last.
- Easy: well-known characters from Sunday school stories.
- Medium: familiar names with less familiar details.
- Hard: minor characters and specific events.
All clues are based on the biblical text. Where a character is known mostly from tradition, the clues stick to what the Bible says.

Tips for Writing Your Own Bible Riddles
If your group enjoys these riddles, have each person write one. A good "Who am I?" riddle follows a few rules.
- Start with a general clue, such as the person's job or hometown.
- Add a clue about a lesser-known detail.
- End with the event the person is best known for.
- Check every clue against the text and write down the reference.
Avoid clues that come from movies, songs, or tradition instead of Scripture. For example, the Bible does not call Mary Magdalene a prostitute, so that should not appear as a clue (Luke 8:2 says Jesus had driven seven demons out of her).
